Description
Annual herb, spreading horizontally or erected. Leaves are alternate and dissected into linear lobes. Heads are heterogamous, yellow and disciform, borne on numerous leafless peduncles exceeding the leafy portion of the stem. Receptacles are naked, hemispherical to conical. Marginal florets are few and pistillate, with very short, 2-3-dentate ligules and compressed tubes, whereas disc florets are numerous, hermaphroditic, tubular, and 5-dentate. Fruits are dimorphic achenes without pappus: the outer achenes are slightly curved and 15–20-striate on the dorsal side, while the inner achenes are smaller, more incurved and less striate.
